Parental Involvement

Visiting the school

Parents are welcome to come and talk to the headteacher about any urgent problem at any time of the day. Her door is open if she is not involved in teaching or at a meeting.

Prospective parents, or parents wishing to talk in greater depth about their children's progress or about general education issues are advised to make an appointment.

Special meetings between parents and teachers provide opportunities to discuss children's progress. These are held regularly during the year. Parents of children entering the Nursery are invited to visit the Nursery with their children before they are due to start.

Parents of children entering the reception classes will be given the opportunity to visit the new classroom before their child starts school. The children will visit their new classroom and new teacher several times before they move to the Reception class.

Early in September, parents of the children in the Year 1 and Year 2 classes are invited to an 'at home' meeting with new teachers. The Reception class teacher will meet with parents in October.

If there is anything that concerns you, please come and see the Headteacher.

Becoming involved in the Day-to-Day life of the school

Parents are encouraged to become fully involved in the life of the school.

The teachers welcome help with a larger range of activities. Some parents run the library sessions for their child's class by helping the children to replace and choose books, others enjoy cooking or sewing with the children.

You may prefer to read stories or join the class for school visits or journeys. If you have any interest or hobby and would enjoy sharing it with a group of children, please do come into school. Your ideas and suggestions will always be welcomed.
