Welcome

Welcome to The Giles Nursery and Infants’ School website. Our school is a lovely oasis of calm and creative learning. We are very proud that it has established a local reputation for high standards, high achievement, good behaviour and kindness. We understand how young children learn and provide a richly creative environment in which our children enjoy abundant and engaging learning experiences. These promote ownership of learning and lead to high standards of achievement.

We are an inclusive school that strives to maintain a loving and caring school community where everyone feels welcome, secure and valued. Children develop independence, responsibility, compassion and good manners through a detailed and extensive personal, social and health education programme.

The school has a ‘family’ feel, where everyone knows everyone else. Pupils love coming to school. Parents rightly feel that their children are happy and safe at school.

Ofsted, february 2023

The school’s most recent Ofsted/HMI inspection of February 2023 judged the school to be ‘good’ in all areas. Our most recent Hertfordshire School Effectiveness Review in Spring 2025 awarded the school a ‘dark green’ rating, which means that The Giles Nursery and Infants' School is "a very strong school which would be likely to gain or maintain 'outstanding' under the 2019 EIF".

Staff know the children exceptionally well and, therefore, personalise their responses to them. This helps to develop their self-esteem.

We are proud of our school. Discover more about how our children enjoy their learning and their time here through our website, or arrange a visit through our school office. Visitors are always very welcome. Our children are at the heart of all we do here at The Giles Nursery and Infants’ School and their successes are a credit to them, our staff, our governors and our parents and carers.

A lovely school with a warm and nurturing environment and lovely teachers who are all friendly and welcoming.
