Admission Procedures for Nursery 2019-20

From September 2017 responsibility for administering Nursery admissions passed on to each individual school. The Giles Nursery is committed to providing as many places as possible to children from the local community.

Parents of children born between 01/09/2015 and 31/08/2016 can apply directly to the school on the school’s application form from 5th November 2018 onwards. Allocations will be offered on a first-come first-serve basis. Please see Nursery/Nursery Admissions for more details or click on the link below.

A paper application form is available from our school office or can be downloaded through the link below or from our Nursery/Nursery Admissions page. When the form is completed you can submit it by hand to our school office, by post to our address or email it to: nurseryadmissions@gilesinfants.herts.sch.uk

Admission Procedures for Reception

The LEA will invite you to apply for your child's reception place. Admission information can be found online at www.hertsdirect/org/admissionsOnline you can access all the information and timescales relating to applications and closing dates.  Click on the link above for general information about admission to our Reception Year.

The Admissions Team will email you when places have been allocated.  You will then be able to go back online to see which school has been allocated to your child. If there are more applicants than places the County Admissions Team will apply a series of admission criteria. These rules have varied during the past few years but current rules are available at www.hertsdirect.org/admissions.

Children are admitted into the main school in September. Many of the children in our Reception classes come from our Nursery, although having a place at our Nursery does not guarantee a place in our Reception year.

If you are new to the area and the online process has closed for a reception place then you will have to fill out an 'In Year' admissions form. This can be accessed by following the link at http://www.hertsdirect.org/services/edlearn/admissions/inyear/  or by telephone on 0300 1234043.

Admission Procedures for Year Three

The whole procedure will be repeated in the following autumn when the LEA will invite you to apply for your child's junior place. Admission information is available online at www.hertsdirect.org/admissions.
