  • Flu immunisation

    Fri 03 Dec 2021

We have requested an alternative date to Friday 17th December for the classes that were missed on Friday 19th November.  If Vaccination UK are able to arrange this we shall let you know.  Otherwise the next date for immunisations is on Friday 17th December 2021.

  • School milk - spring term 2022

    Fri 26 Nov 2021

The cost of school milk for the Spring Term will be £16.80 (Thursday 6th January 2022 until Friday 1st April 2022).

If you would like to order milk for your child, you can now order and pay for this online by using the payment section within the School Gateway app.

    • If your child turns 5 years old within the Spring Term 2022, you will need to make a payment for milk.
    • If your child will remain under 5 years old within the Spring Term 2022 you are entitled to free school milk, please use the alternative option in the School Comms App called FSM and Reception Children Under 5 Milk Request (Spring Term 2022).

All payments for milk must be made by Friday 10th December 2021.

Unfortunately, if we do not have your order and payment by Friday 10th December 2021 we will not be able to provide milk for the start of the Spring Term.

Children entitled to benefit-related free school meals are also entitled to infant free school milk.  Please see a separate option within the payment section of the School Comms app if you fall into this category. If you are unsure please contact the school office before making a payment.

The Rural Payments Agency would like all parents/carers to know that the milk your child will receive is subsidised by the EU and is good for them.

The school milk supplier is unable to supply Lactose or Lactose free milk.

  • Severe Weather/Public Emergency :  Signing up to the new School Closure Notification System

    Fri 19 Nov 2021

All schools in Hertfordshire have signed up to a fast new way of letting parents and carers know when bad weather or any sort of public emergency means that the school is closed. All parents have to do is to log on to: https://member.everbridge.net/892807736725489/login and click on the 'sign up' button in the top right corner of the page on the grey strip and from there follow the brief instructions.

It should take you no more than 5 minutes to register and you can edit your information at any time should you change your mobile number or email address. Each contact can have 2 mobile numbers/email addresses added, so both parents and a family relative can be registered to receive any messages relating to our school's closure. If you have more than one child at different schools in Hertfordshire, you can register once for more than one school in a single registration process by selecting all the schools you have children at.

Please do sign up, as winter is here and this will be the quickest way of finding out whether the school is open or not should we have severe weather. If you do not have internet access but would like to sign up, please call in to the main school office and one of the admin team will be happy to help you register.

Please visit The Comet website for further details.

  • Head lice and nits

    Fri 22 Oct 2021

Further information about head lice and nits, including a section 'check if it's head lice' can be found on the NHS website.

Please if everyone can make a special effort  to check your child’s head for lice or eggs. If you see live lice, please treat your child(ren). Best practice is for everyone to check children’s hair every time it is washed. Please put conditioner on (some say tea tree conditioner is the most effective) and comb your child’s wet and conditioned hair with a lice comb to remove eggs before rinsing. Vigilance and regular washing/combing is the key.

Thank you everyone for doing your best with this problem.

  • Come along to our 50th celebration

    Fri 24 Sep 2021

We are celebrating The Giles Nursery and Infants' School's 50th birthday on Saturday 25th September 2021 between 12-3pm.

Refreshments Popcorn and candy floss will be free for all of our pupils who have a ticket. There will be drinks and snacks to purchase from our FROG stall as well as two ice cream vans!

Please note that there will be no parking on the school site unless you have a school issued parking permit. If you have a parking permit and need access, please speak to the school office to make a prior arrangement. Access and exit will be via pedestrian gates only. These will include the two Year 2 playground gates and the first Nursery gate. All gates by the car park will be locked for your safety.

First Aid, should it be required, will be outside the dining hall. In case of an emergency, please highlight to myself, and the fire assembly point is in the far Year 1 playground.

Please can all families ensure children (our pupils or otherwise) do not play on the outside play equipment and supervise children at all times. We would also please ask, if you come as a family with older children, you are mindful to keep together as a family so that older children attending are sensitive to the younger children.

We welcome you all and hope you all have a wonderful time!
